My Own Business, Inc.

The Hall of Wisdom (HOW) serves as an advisory board to the leadership team of My Own Business, Inc. Membership in the Hall of Wisdom is limited to carefully selected individuals who have distinguished themselves in areas of business, community, educational, and professional achievement.

Members of the Hall of Wisdom are committed to the continued growth and success of My Own Business. They willingly offer their advice, counsel and insight to help the organization meet its mission and maximize the beneficial impact of its programs.

Hall of Wisdom Members:

  • B.J. Adelson
    B.J. Adelson practiced law for 50 years, primarily with problems generally encountered by individuals who own small businesses. He attended Harvard Law School where he was on the Law Review and graduated magna cum laude.
  • William H. Crookston Ph.D
    William Crookston is Professor of Clinical Entrepreneurship at the Lloyd Greif Center, Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California--termed "one of the best entrepreneurship programs" in the country by Business Week Magazine.
  • Robert L. Dilenschneider
    Robert L. Dilenschneider formed The Dilenschneider Group in 1991. Prior to forming his own firm, Mr. Dilenschneider served as president and chief executive officer of Hill and Knowlton, Inc. from 1986 to 1991.
  • Thomas L. Harken
    Tom Harken received one of the nation’s highest honors, the Horatio Alger Award in 1992 along with Maya Angelou, Wayne Huizenga, Clarence Thomas and Henry Kissinger. Mr. Harken is considered one of the nation’s top advocates for literacy.
  • Nathan H. Hurt
    Nathan Hurt is former president of Goodyear Atomic Corporation and a leading authority in handling and disposal of atomic materials. He is past president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (A.S.M.E.).
  • Diana Kokoska
    Diana Kokoska is an instructor of Computer Information Systems at the University of Maine. She provides instruction in English, math, document editing and proofreading, and information technology to local businesses. She is the author of Grandpa's Workbench Portfolio Builder published by Pearson Prentice Hall.
  • Mary Magee
    Mary Magee has won worldwide acclaim as one of Australia's top women entrepreneurs. Her many business interests include pharmacies, medical centers and a manufacturing/distributing company for children's clothes and toys.
  • Nancy Robert Ph.D
    Nancy Robert received a 21st Century Learning Innovator award from the American Society for Training and Development. She believes learning is significantly impacted by personal beliefs and that future technology platforms should facilitate the integration of cognitive knowledge and belief factors into individual learning approaches.
