Mark Bush, Jr. uses his creative genius to sculpt mere cake into epic works of art. He created each and every design you see on our website, most often in buttercream icing creating a clean, smooth finish with the icing everyone loves!

How it got started: Mark started as an employee at a local grocery store bakery, already an artist in other mediums Mark started to learn about cake as an art form from the cake decorator at the bakery. Armed with some basic instruction Mark went on to teach himself how to turn cake into the crazy creations he makes today. After building a following doing cakes for friends and family, Mark partnered with his sister Brandy to form Cake Works of Art building a business that began to turn a profit after just one year of sales. Currently, the business has moved from Kansas City, MO to St. Joseph, MO as Mark, a young business owner, is finishing his bachelor's degree in graphic design.

How the My Own Business course helped: Over the past couple of years I have been receiving the free MOBI newsletter which in a brief way kept my mind focused towards entrepreneurship as well as informing me on small ways I could be preparing for starting and managing a business. When my brother came to me with the idea of going out on his own to start a cake decorating business I thought it to be the best time to help him out, armed with those tidbits that grew into a wealth of information on starting a business. Since then we have referred to the course for startup information as we keep moving forward into new uncharted territory for us as new business owners.
